Mikayla's first Thanksgiving!

Mikayla got to experience her very first Thanksgiving this year! We usually alternate between our families and this year it was at Jeremy's mother's house. She was immediately scooped up by her adoring auntie Azure when we got there:
While the girls were busy in the kitchen, the boys did what boys do best - drinking beer and watching football. Don't worry, they got dish duty!
Azure is VERY enthusiastic about her green bean casserole:
This Thanksgiving was not only Mikayla's first turkey day, but it was the first time she was going to try real, solid, grown-up food! I made a batch of plain cooked sweet potatoes mixed with some formula milk for her to try. This was the look she gave us when we told her she'd be eating real people food:Daddy making the approach with her first spoonful of goodness:
She gums it for a bit, hmm...And the verdict?? Not so good...
All in all she did pretty well. She didn't seem overly thrilled with it, but she ate some and kept opening up her mouth for more. I think it was just the texture and strangeness of eating something new. But, we're in no big hurry for her to start eating solids, so we'll try again another day. :)
Mikayla was fascinated with Jeremy's cousin Dylan. He's quite scruffy just like our cats at home, so she figured she should give that "fur" a good yank!
But eventually she figured he was also good for cuddling too:My mother-in-law has a cute tradition of having everyone sign a plain white tablecloth at each holiday - it's fun to see all the signatures through the years. This was the first year Mikayla got to sign the tablecloth, with a little help of course:

All in all it was a lovely holiday. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! :)

Tell Dylan it's nothing personal, if you've got long hair Mikayla wants it! That pic where you told her that she was going to eat real food is awesome! That said, I can't believe she's eating real food :-( it seems like just yesterday you were still pregnant!

I think you should have given Mikayla white trash fruit salad instead. Now that's an introduction worth talkig about!
